My Dog Logan

)

So this is him.  He chose me 3 years ago when I decided to get a dog.  He’s my best friend.  Not to be cold but aren’t dogs WAY better than people??  Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think I would survive with just dogs as my company BUT they are always so happy to see you, always wanting to please you, and they always show you just the right amount of affection.  They are also always willing to go for a run or play with the ball…they will keep you active, if you let them.  This is very much unlike the average person who wants to sit on the couch or go out to eat.  Pathway to bad health.

I guess my main reason for getting Logan was to have company and to get over my ex-boyfriend.  I’m also extremely busy with school work, so it’s nice to have someone by your side through it all…and not trying to start conversation when you are in the homework zone, although Logan does get up and bring me the ball to throw for him on occassion.  Sounds like peaches and cream, doesn’t it?  Well, when I first got him, I didn’t quite understand what it was like to have a puppy.  Yes, they are cute and cuddly and they are so playful.  On the flip side, they don’t listen for beans and they go to the bathroom….EVERYWHERE!  I was ready to give him back to the breeder, when he went through puppy bootcamp.  AMAZING transformation.  I recommend this for anyone who wants a dog who will listen and behave!   He does every basic command and more.  And he knows when to calm down and sit with you instead of bounce off the walls.   I would say that the only problem I have is that I’m not home nearly as much as I want to be, or should be, with him.  I’m lucky to have my family take care of him as much as they do.  It’s tough to live an hour away from school and have hour classes through-out the day.  I wish I could bring him with me.  Sometimes I feel a bit guilty.

Still though, he greets me at the door with a million kisses and a ball for me to throw for him.  Not wondering where I was.  Always just happy.  I guess I enjoy his company more than average because I’ve had such bad relationships.  I know that I can trust him and he never takes anything out on me.  Men can be like children…but the children who don’t listen and are trouble makers, dogs on the other hand are like children as well,  but more along the lines of the curious, innocent child who loves everybody.  Kind of a stretch, but you know what I mean.
